I
have been interested in Mental Health issues all my
adult life and after gaining a place at St. Hugh’s
College, Oxford in 1966, and obtaining an MA degree in
Modern Languages, I went to Drama School in London,
pursuing a stage career and worked in TV, Radio, Films
and the Stage. I also worked as a full time teacher in
Primary School for a number of years.
I
worked as a Bereavement Counsellor in Camden for four
years and then studied Analytical Psychotherapy at the
institute of Psychoanalysis and both the London College
of Psychotherapy and the Lincoln but subsequently became
fascinated by Hypnotherapy which works very much in the
“ here and now “ and the power it can often have,
working co-operatively with the client, to change long
held, unwanted habits and negative ways of thinking,
feeling and behaviour.
I trained at
the London College of Clinical Hypnosis, from which I
qualified in 2001. I started in full time private
practice, treating a variety of conditions from phobias,
to weight control, and anxiety and depression.
In 2006 I
wished to add to my knowledge base and trained in
Cognitive behavioural therapy where I graduated in 2007.
This I find a very useful adjunct to my hypnotherapy,
and often utilize in more long stay patients to modify
behavioural patterns and can be very effectively used in
long term anxiety and depression sufferers.
