What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural, altered state of
consciousness and most people find it very pleasant as it
gives them an opportunity to relax deeply and to focus more
inward so that beneficial suggestions can be
given/communicated to the unconscious mind from the
therapist to the client and from the client to themselves,
based on the changes the clients want to make to achieve
their goals. It is very much a co-operative experience.
I usually teach Self Hypnosis in the first
session as the daily practice of this technique is an
effective prescription for helping patients controls their
own mind, thoughts, feelings, symptoms and behaviour.
I use hypnotherapy
as a tool in stress management and is very successful in
reducing the amount of stress.
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy means the therapeutic use of
hypnosis for treatment and relief of a variety of somatic
and psychological symptoms. During treatment the individual
becomes physically relaxed but remains aware and can hear
everything the therapist says. Hypnotherapy is pleasant,
natural, safe and has no harmful side effects.
How can it help you?
We all have responsibility for our
behaviour. But there are many times when we do not feel in
control, when we feel that a particular behaviour or habit
is controlling us. This can include undesirable habits such
as smoking, nail- biting, overeating or anxiety problems
such as phobias and panic attacks which control our lives to
an extent that prevents us from reaching our full potential
in life. Hypnotherapy empowers our subconscious to regain
that control and helps to put us back in charge of our
lives.
What is Stress?
Stress is created by our own perception,
feelings and reactions to circumstances that are
threatening, either real or imagined. Constant stress
leaves the body vulnerable to illness and depression.
Stress affects us in
many different ways. Some people suffer from anxiety,
muscular tension, high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat,
and breathing difficulties. Others may develop ulcers,
bruxism, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and skin
disorders or obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours.
The stress management techniques taught within hypnotherapy
e.g. Self Hypnosis teach a complete deep relaxation method
which enables you to eliminate negative thoughts and beliefs
and develop positive thinking, self worth and assertiveness.
Clinical
Hypnotherapy is a goal centred therapy and usually takes 2
-5 sessions to start getting clinical results
